Men Don’t Talk
“Men Don’t Talk” is a podcast that focuses on men not talking about their issues – and instead shoving things down internally. This is a serious problem that no one’s talking about. In dealing with my own issues, I’ve seen and heard some heartbreaking stories from other men and feel like it’s only getting worse.
The amount of pent up, frustrated, unhappy, resentful men I’ve come across is staggering. Some of them are completely emasculated, insecure, and drowning in a sea of anxiety/depression, but you would never know. Like many things in our society, we cut off branches instead of digging up the root of the problem. Simply put, we treat symptoms and not the disease. And then we’re shocked when men aren’t good fathers, husbands, coworkers, etc. Suicides are up, prescription meds have increased dramatically, and alcohol/drugs as always are an unhealthy outlet. Mental health isn’t treated properly, and yet no one really gives a damn.
I’ve been through a lot this past year and a half. I’m now on the other side and feel more balanced physically, mentally, and spiritually than I have in a very long time. My identity is back and I’m looking forward to the next chapter. However, in going through this journey, I made the mistake of isolating myself – and dealt with things alone instead of confiding in friends, family, a therapist, etc. In hindsight, it was a huge mistake driven by pride, guilt, and what others might think – such a flawed strategy and has been for generations.
The ultimate goal is to be the happiest version of myself possible while being a great father to my kids and bringing positive energy everywhere I go. Life is too damn short for anything else.
I’ll have guests on from all over the country (both men and women) – but the goal is to bring on some men who have the courage to open up and talk about real issues. Yes, it takes balls. Period. If you’re not comfortable revealing your identity, we don’t need to – not a problem. But know this, the importance of your story and any constructive dialogue could help someone else in a similar spot.
We’ll also tackle topics like dating, the negative effects of social media, gold diggers, social climbers, insecure men, emasculation (or emascu-nation as I call it), infidelity, dopamine, compatibility, why affection/intimacy are important, why short shorts have made a comeback, dating apps, finding your true identity, why marriages are failing, how to be happy, and much more. Some episodes will be serious, some will be funny, and some will be both.
As a man, the stigma of being vulnerable and the guilt of failure in our society has officially taken over the need to be mentally fit. Hopefully, we can flip the script.
